Hi Bepra —
The pandemic and the resulting economic fallout has been the worst crisis of renters’ lives. This is happening in the midst of an unaffordable housing crisis brought on by governmental policies, and an eviction crisis fueled by demovictions and renovictions to line the pockets of wealthy property investors.
That’s why, as discussed at the last VTU General Meeting, the Provincial Working Group is setting up a town hall event for renters to share their experiences on Tuesday, April 20th, and we want your feedback. From 5:30-6:30 PM, BC’s Minister Responsible for Housing David Eby will be in attendance. As VTU members, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences as renters, ask questions from the Minister, and hold the BC Government accountable.
It’s important for us to reach out to our membership to help decide the best way to use this opportunity. Please take 10-15 minutes to fill out our survey, created for all members interested in partaking in the event, to decide the best course forward and begin gathering your stories, questions, and concerns.
Please fill out the survey by April 5th, so the working group can have the time needed to properly address all concerns. We are excited for this opportunity, and look forward to hearing from you. If you have any direct questions for the Provincial Working Group, please address them to Provincial@
